Lawn Care in New Orleans, Louisiana: From Uptown to the Lakefront
New Orleans yards have their own rules. The humidity, the rain, the soil, the storms, the historic-district restrictions, none of it works like generic lawn care advice. TurnKey is a local crew that knows every neighborhood, every grass type, and every quirk of taking care of property in this city.

New Orleans isn’t generic suburbia. Your lawn crew shouldn’t be either.
Lawn care advice you read online is mostly written for somewhere else. The Bermuda-grass tips don’t apply to your St. Augustine. The fall fertilization schedule is wrong for a climate where the grass barely goes dormant. The drainage assumptions don’t hold up in a city that’s mostly below sea level.
Then there’s the city-specific stuff: live oaks with protected status, historic-district plant restrictions, drainage easement rules, parish pickup quirks, hurricane prep that has to actually mean something. National franchises ignore all of it. Most local crews just mow.
TurnKey is the New Orleans option. We’ve maintained yards from Lakeview to the Marigny, from the Garden District to Algiers Point, from Uptown to the lakefront, every neighborhood teaches you something different, and we apply what we’ve learned to every property we take on.

π HOW IT WORKS
Three Steps to a New Orleans Yard That Works
Step 1
Free Property Walk
We walk your specific yard, your specific grass type, your specific exposure, your specific neighborhood’s quirks, and quote a flat rate for whatever combination of services you need.
Step 2
Set the Schedule
Weekly or biweekly mowing on a fixed day. Pre-scheduled visits for any seasonal work. Storm-call list for hurricane response. One schedule, one phone number, one crew.
Step 3
Year-Round Coverage
New Orleans grass grows nearly year-round, so the service runs year-round. Different cadences for different seasons (weekly in summer, biweekly in winter), but the relationship doesn’t stop in October the way it does up north.

β WHAT CUSTOMERS SAY
βββββ
“I’ve lived in New Orleans for 30 years and never found a lawn crew that actually understood the city until Turnkey. They know my live oaks need different care than the magnolia. They prep my yard before every named storm. They show up. That’s the whole story.”
, Margaret F., Metairie
β COMMON QUESTIONS
Lawn Care in New Orleans: What Homeowners Ask Us
What neighborhoods do you serve in New Orleans?
All of them, Uptown, Garden District, Carrollton, Mid-City, Lakeview, Gentilly, Bywater, Marigny, Algiers, the West Bank neighborhoods (Algiers Point, Aurora), the East (New Orleans East, the lakefront). If you’re inside Orleans Parish or in the adjacent communities listed below, we’ll get out there.
What grass types do you handle?
All four warm-season grasses common in New Orleans: St. Augustine (most common in front yards), zoysia (denser, more premium look), centipede (low-maintenance), and Bermuda (less common but present in some open lawns). Each grass gets cut at a different height, fertilized on a different rhythm, and watered differently, we don’t apply one-size-fits-all settings.
What about historic-district restrictions?
Real concern in parts of the Garden District, French Quarter (rare residential), TremΓ©, Faubourg Marigny, and other listed neighborhoods. Some plant choices, tree work, and fencing have restrictions. We’ve been through enough historic-district properties to know what’s allowed without checking. If your project needs HDLC approval, we’ll tell you up front and either route around it or wait for the approval.
How do you handle hurricane prep and response?
Annual tree trimming before storm season for clients who want it. A pre-storm ‘secure the yard’ visit when a named storm enters the gulf (move furniture, clear loose debris, check drainage). Post-storm cleanup is our highest-priority work, existing clients get response within 24-72 hours of all-clear. New clients during a storm cycle are first-come-first-served.
Drainage is a problem in my yard, can you help?
Sometimes yes, sometimes you need a specialist. Surface drainage issues (water pooling on the lawn, ditch maintenance, French-drain refresh) we handle. Sub-grade drainage (foundation issues, sump pumps, major regrading) we refer to specialists. We’ll tell you which one your problem is during the walk-through. Most New Orleans drainage frustrations have at least a partial fix.
